Abstract

Combining three essential management elements (Risk Management System, Internal Control Process and Management Accounting) to strengthen the process of achieving strategic objectives in the management of a Research Infrastructure (RI) is the methodology the authors recommend in running Research Infrastructures. The key performance indicators intend to be multi-functional tools in a more complex system, and in integrating them into the RI governance will guarantee effective management. The next phase will focus on how the organisation can leverage risk management throughout the RI, by incorporating it into its governance structure and processes.
